Subject: Screw cam cleat to halyard bar
Info: (5834 views) Posted: Friday 3-28-14 05:02:38 AM
Hi Jeremy,

The bridge on my boat, and most of the others that I have seen are made of anodized aluminum, which is relatively soft and easy to drill through using a cordless drill. I installed my new bridge first and drilled the cleat holes in place. I like cobalt bits, but almost any high-speed bit will do. Mark the hole with a center punch, and starting off with a small bit (1/16, 5/64) step up to the size you need. Best of luck,

Steve

:: Hi,
::
:: I want to screw a couple of additional cam cleats to the
:: halyard bar over the companionway hatch on my Santana.
:: The halyard bar is made of metal. I'm assuming that I'll
:: have to take it off and get a machine shop to drill the
:: holes. Before doing that just checking here if anyone
:: has any advice, recommendations of places that can do
:: this, etc.
::
:: Thanks

:: Jeremy
