Adam and Keay,

Thanks for the tips! I am definitely going to investigate having a jib douser--that is one thing I'm struggling with.

Can I ask a favor of someone? Can someone take detailed snapshots of their reefing line setup and main sheet setup?

When I purchased my tuna, the reefling line was missing, but I believe all the hardware is there. And I have a funny setup for the main sheet, and instead of it being aft, the lines lead from one side of the cockpit (through cam cleats) up the mast to the boom, to the end of the boom, to the traveler, and then back up to the boom and then back down the other side of the cockpit through a second cam cleat. I'd love for it to be set up like in Adams. With the exception of the traveler cam cleat, I think the hardware is there, but confirmation would be awesome before I start messing with stuff!

Thanks to anyone who can help!

:: There are two things I find to be of enormous help when
:: single handing. The first is a block at the bow allowing
:: me to run a line to the head of the jib. I usually run
:: the line through a couple of small carabiners between
:: the hanks ( they don't have to be strong, can be just a
:: cheap keychain type, to keep the line free and running
:: up the forestay to the head of the sail.) and back to
:: the cockpit. With this I can keep the jib locked down on
:: the deck when heading out (release the downhaul and
:: raise the jib) and pull it down when coming back in. I
:: tried a thing called a Gerr Downhaul and it didn't work
:: for me at all. Just something to get the jib down is a
:: huge help.
::
:: The other thing is know how to "Heave To". If I am just
:: out and bashing around, I will heave to to reef. Makes
:: it easy and calm. Granted you need to have sea room. I
:: concur with the previous post about choosing a light
:: wind day to practice and planning things out.
::
:: My Two Cents,
