Subject: Companionway hatch track slide screws

I assume you are asking about the four flat-head machine screws that go through the top corners of the hatch into the slides. My boat was missing several of these so I ended up drilling over-sized holes through the slides and then welding nuts to the top of them. As I recall, I either used #12, or 1/4" machine screws and nuts--either way it ended up being considerably stronger than what it originally came with and it works great. Also, because the hatch on my boat showed signs of stress where those slides mount, I took the additional step of reinforcing those areas with three layers of 9oz glass on the underside and then re-drilled the holes through the new glass. Best of luck, and by the way, I know nothing about racing.

:: Does anyone have any idea where to get them? I would
:: assume that all the Santana's used the same ones, so who
:: ended up with all the left-over production parts? anyone
:: know? I hope to get an answer to a question on this site
:: someday.... I can't believe you people just don't

:: know anything about the boats you sail but how to race
:: them???? By the way, you take the cabin top hand rail
:: offs from the inside of the cabin roof. And, there are
:: 18 screws in each hatch combing.They are a snap to get
:: off and you can use them for a pattern (including screw
:: holes) for new combings. Jim
