Colin,

Nice write up Keay!

I used a hole saw and drilled down over the nut. Probably equal to a grinder in effectiveness.

I'd recommend doing them one at a time and avoid dropping the keel unless you really have to.

Best of luck.. feel free to reach out if you've questions

:: Colin,
::
:: I redid my keelbolts last year and would be happy to
:: share my thoughts about the process with you. I posted
:: my experience here:

::
:: My way may not be the recommended way, so use at your
:: own risk, but it worked well, went fast and was pretty
:: painless. The one big thing I learned though, was to
:: make sure you clean up the metal dust or will turn to
:: rust spots everywhere.

:: :: I have Santana 22 #168. The nuts that hold the keel on
:: :: are completely rusted and I got replacements from
:: :: Schock. I have not tried to put them on yet but I know
:: :: the old nuts will crumble when i put a wrench on them. I
:: :: fear that the bolts are also rusted. I am looking for
:: :: some direction on replacing the bolts. If anyone has any
:: :: experience I would appreciate an e-mail
