It's not difficult to change the bearing. You can order replacements through a bearing dealer or a distributor such as Jamestown Distributors. You'll need several measurements "Outer Diameter" of Shaft the the diameter of the ruddershaft tube and length of tube between rudder flange and stuffing box. You should be able to get a rubber for cheaper than the original bronze. They are called sleeve bearings and are listed under rudder or propeller shaft sections.
