Hello

I lost my rudder. I didn't see it floating so I assumed it was not boyant. Does anybody know if most of these rudders sink? My sailboat is from 1967 and I believe it was the original.

Any hints at trying to find it on a muddy bottom. Fish finder? Metal detector? What would you use? A diver took 2 hours and didn't locate it by sight so am trying to think of more ways to try more accurately. It was lost in a lake (Lake Washington) just 30 feet outside of my slip. Unfortunately I had painted it with black bottom paint the previous Summer so it is hard to see against mud and silt.

I am trying to locate a used rudder in case I can't find it. There are a few sailboat junkyards up in the Seattle area but am open to having one shipped if somebody has one down in the Motherland (Bay area, etc).

Any help would be appreciated. I am not sure how active this site is anymore. I see people like to advertise a lot of junk on it. :-)

Mark
