Non skid should be no problem. I did mine as a newbie and am still happy with the results 3 years later. I went the KISS principal, (keep it simple stupid) and used West Marine non-skid paint. I think they use old tennis ball fuzz as an agrigate but it works great. The whole key is preperation. I used brass steel wool to prep the area, fine line tape to set the borders and a small roller to apply. I usually overdo everything so I think I put down at least two coats, maybe three. I used grey for the contrast but next time I will use white as I think it looks cleaner. Can't help you with the hull buffing. Cheers Tom Fun Zone # 664
