Hey Scot Actually, Pariah uses Ullman sails and yes we got 3rd in Nationals last year and 4th in 2007 and again in 2008 with the same sails-they have been great. We dealt with Bruce Cooper in the Newport Beach loft, but I know that Ullman also has a full service loft in San Diego.

A word aboout materials; I think for what you're doing you wwant regular old Dacron. Some of the racers have Pentex and other high tech cloth (at much higher cost), but those cloths are much more delicate, don't last nearly as long and for what you're doing with the boat, the low cost/low maintenance/longer lasting Dacron is the way to go

By the way our Ullman race sails are Dacron and after 4 years still look great.

Congrats on the new boat

:: You know, I think I'd really enjoy living in SF. I love
:: that many people have a social conscience and enjoy
:: helping others. Thanks; I know I digress. How will I use
:: the boat?

:: Without an active racing class of S22 here in SD I'm
:: looking forward to family sailing on it. A little
:: overnighting. The S22 was the first keelboat I sailed as
:: a teenager, so besides being near bulletproof and super
:: safe there is a certain romantic appeal, believe it or
:: not.
::
:: :: Hello,
::
:: :: during the last nationals the top 3 boats had Pineapple
:: :: (Bonito, 1st), Santa Cruz sails (Meli'ki, 2nd) and UK
:: :: Halsey (Pariah, 3rd), so obviously they are all good and
:: :: fast sails. In my opinion the SC jib is nicer than the
:: :: Pineapple jib, as the foot of the latter is rather loose
:: :: when going to weather. The SC sails still look to be in
:: :: decent shape after 4 seasons of racing.
:: ::
:: :: Used sails are quite often offered on this website, or
:: :: on craigslist, SF bay area. It's pretty easy to find
:: :: cheap & usable sails, but very hard to find good ones...
:: ::
:: :: Good luck!

:: :: :: Hi Scot,
:: ::
:: :: :: The fast boats seem to be using Pineapple or UK Halsey.
:: :: :: I use Pineapple myself as they are local (I have nothing
:: :: :: but good things to say about Pineapple Sails) but in San
:: :: :: Diego you may want to use Halsey if they have a local
:: :: :: shop. Are you going to be racing, cruising, day
:: :: :: sailing...?
:: :: ::
:: :: :: :: Okay, since I'm not gettin' a lot of bites with this,
:: :: :: :: and now there's another sail wanted ad, how about y'all
:: :: :: :: throw in your two cents. What are my best options if I
:: :: :: :: start looking for new sail quotes? Pineapple, ... Who
:: :: :: :: else?
:: :: ::
:: :: :: :: Thanks.
:: :: :: ::
:: :: :: :: :: Any leads on good used sails?
:: :: :: ::
:: :: :: :: :: San Diego.

:: :: :: :: :: Scot
