I replaced the bolts on hull 478 a few years ago and was glad I did. The threaded portion showed no problems, but a number of the flared heads that sit in the recess in the keel flange were rusting away.
Mine were covered in resin and filler, so even if they were sound I would have had trouble reinstalling them. If yours are fairly clean you could remove them one or two at a time (while hauled out) for inspection before committing to replacement.

:: Re : Keel Bolts,
::
:: I bought a S22 last year. The keel-bolt nuts looked so
:: terrible that I was convinced on every outing that the
:: keel was about to fall off.
::
:: I finally removed them a couple weeks ago and found the
:: bolts themselves were in excellent shape. It's a nice
:: bit of piece of mind to have changed them, but the boat
:: would have sailed many many more years before the keel
:: bolts gave any problems.
::
:: I've heard similar stories since.

::
:: :: Bob,
:: ::
:: :: If you are thinking about actually replacing the mast
:: :: beam, Schock is the place to go. The number I have for
:: :: them is (951)277-3377. The cost is about $500 and I
:: :: would expect to wait at least a couple of weeks--they
:: :: make they to order.
::
:: :: Removing the old beam and installing one of the new ones
:: :: is a long and difficult job, performed mainly while
:: :: laying on ones back. The factory beams can almost be
:: :: considered a "blank"--they require a lot of shaping to
:: :: get them to fit. That being said, they are a big
:: :: improvement over the old ones because you need neither a
:: :: compression post or the old aluminum posts that your
:: :: boat probably has now.
::
:: :: Good luck,

:: :: :: Hello:
:: ::
:: :: :: Read some of the articles on this website. They are very
:: :: :: informative. Also, read through the Tuna mail archives:
:: :: :: http://myfleet.org/pipermail/tuna/
:: :: ::
:: :: :: Basically, your resource for both of these items is
:: :: :: Steve Seal @ Seals Spars:
:: ::
:: :: :: http://www.sealsspars.com/s22catalog.html
:: :: ::
:: :: :: He is down here in the bay area but I'm sure he would be
:: :: :: happy to ship. Nice guy, very knowledgeable.
:: :: ::
:: :: :: It looks like you;re looking at $100 for the mast jack
:: :: :: and $195 for the stainless keel bolts. Both upgrades are
:: :: :: worthwhile.
:: :: ::
:: :: :: For the mast jack, you'll need to back off all your
:: :: :: rigging so there is no tension, then install the jack.
:: :: :: Pretty easy and straightforward job.
:: :: ::
:: :: :: As for replacing the keel bolts, it is going to require
:: :: :: having the boat out of the water (if it isn't already),
:: :: :: and possibly removing/replacing fairing and/or
:: :: :: fiberglass. I glassed mine in for strength so I could
:: :: :: fair the keel joint into the hull, but if you aren't
:: :: :: racing I doubt this would be worth your time. It isn't a
:: :: :: very difficult job, just time consuming.
:: :: ::
:: :: :: Anyway good luck and welcome to the fleet!
