I did speak with steve, my boat is somewhat of an enigma. I cannot find a hull number, it is definately a Santana 22, the plaque on the interior says 1960 (it probably came from another boat) long before they started making them in about 1965. The chain plates are steel (not stainless sadly) they were originally made in aluminum.

I am going to leave the bulk head alone, several people feel they are just fine. I need to do plenty still though.

Bought a hobby it appears! No gripes.

Thanks for the feedback.

:: Try www.sealsspars.com. for the chainplates. Steve is
:: the local guru for al things Santana 22. I'd stick with
:: marine grade plywood for the bulkheads, I havent heard
:: of or seen anyone use starbrite.

:: Fun Zone
::
:: :: I called WDSCHOCK and they said that the new chain
:: :: plates don't work with the older boats.
:: ::
:: :: I have an older Santana 22 (age unknown) and I am
:: :: looking at replacing mine as they have a fair amount of
:: :: surface corrosion.
:: ::
:: :: Any recommendations.
:: ::
:: :: Also, thinking of replacing bulk head where they are
:: :: attached as one is looking a bit rough. Can I use a
:: :: product like King Starboard in the 3/4"?
:: ::
:: :: Is it strong enough and durable enough? Just thinking it
:: :: might be better than going back to wood.
:: ::
:: :: Any coaching and experience in these matters would be
:: :: appreciated.
:: ::
:: :: Thanks,
