Subject: hull-to-deck joint

I have Hull number 567 it has been filled and glassed over on the inside not sure if this is the boat you are talking about. It would seem that this would increase the integrity of the joint. reriviting is also a good idea. I have played with the idea of grinding the joint back flush with the hull on the outside and layering glass tape to bond the hull to the deck. no more rubrail to collect crud and cause rot at the joint or water intrusion I think this is why Schock does this with the new santana 22's

:: I know there is at least one out there with the
:: hull-deck joint filled and glassed over from the inside.
:: I don't know the hull number or current owner, but the
:: PO of mine had two S22's. He sold the one with the
:: reinforced joint not too long after I bought his spare
:: hull.

:: :: Just wondering if anyone has tried to beef up the
:: :: hull-to-deck joint on one of the original S22s. I just
:: :: removed the rubrail on the boat that I'm refinishing and
:: :: was surprised at how insubstantial the joint seems. In
:: :: one section a noticeable gap actually opens up if I
:: :: press on the hull just below the joint.
