I've got a hull/deck joint leak - more of a nuisance at the moment than anything serious. At the end of the season I plan to do a haul out and fix it correctly with sealant in the joint and a new rub rail.
In the interim I'm looking for a temporary solution. I've read that you can caulk around the rub rail, but would need to use a non-permanent sealant so I can remove the rub rail later.
I thought about using a silicon sealant but believe that it leaves a silicon residue that is difficult to remove and that other sealants will not subsequently adhere to.
Wondered if anyone had any experience and/or thoughts.
Thanks,
-Jeremy
