No idea about the handrails, min doesn't have them, it has lifelines. But as far as the coaming I am up against the same challenge on my '67. Ripping them off would probably be worse than leaving them, but they were really dry and beyond salvage. So I'm using epoxy and fairing them right into the boat. Almost have one side done. So when I'm done it will just be the old coamings glasses in. Definitely not conventional, or easy, but I think it'll be great. My alternative was ripping them out and cutting new wood to fit. The curves led me to think this would be too difficult. I'll post some pictures when its finished.
