Santana 22 racers...

Andrew and I went to Santa Cruz on Saturday and participated in their monthly team racing event. What a hoot!!! 6 boats, 2 teams, 7 races, and a lot of fun had by all! It was beautiful day AND we saw whales!

The course is pretty short, and each race takes about 15 minutes: start, upwind leg, reaching leg, downwind leg, reaching leg, and upwind leg to the finish. There's no time to put up a pole on the downwind. Strategy is to help your teammates place better than the other team, which means you really need to know your rules.

I participated in the match racing event we had in the Estuary and thought that was fun. Team racing is match racing on steroids!!!!!

The next team racing is November 9. The Santa Cruz group asked me to invite all of you to come and check it out. They will find a boat for you. We're planning to go again in November.

I think you can join the Santa Cruz Google groups list by following the link: https://groups.google.com/forum/?hl=en&fromgroups=#!forum/s22santacruz

If you have any questions or have any interest, please let me know.
