Subject: Temporary hull/deck joint seals

Sorry about last nada entry, but I believe a little bit of sanding will remove any silicon and with the rub rail off that will be something you should be doing anyway. Jim

:: :: Hi,
:: ::
:: :: I've got a hull/deck joint leak - more of a nuisance at
:: :: the moment than anything serious. At the end of the
:: :: season I plan to do a haul out and fix it correctly with
:: :: sealant in the joint and a new rub rail.
:: ::
:: :: In the interim I'm looking for a temporary solution.
:: :: I've read that you can caulk around the rub rail, but
:: :: would need to use a non-permanent sealant so I can
:: :: remove the rub rail later.
:: ::
:: :: I thought about using a silicon sealant but believe that
:: :: it leaves a silicon residue that is difficult to remove
:: :: and that other sealants will not subsequently adhere to.
:: ::
:: :: Wondered if anyone had any experience and/or thoughts.
:: ::
:: :: Thanks,

:: :: -Jeremy
