Just for a counterpoint -

I replaced the bolts on hull 478 a few years ago and was glad I did. The threaded portion showed no problems, but a number of the flared heads that sit in the recess in the keel flange were rusting away.

Mine were covered in resin and filler, so even if they were sound I would have had trouble reinstalling them. If yours are fairly clean you could remove them one or two at a time (while hauled out) for inspection before committing to replacement.

:: :: would expect to wait at least a couple of weeks--they

:: :: is a long and difficult job, performed mainly while
:: :: laying on ones back. The factory beams can almost be
:: :: considered a "blank"--they require a lot of shaping to

:: :: compression post or the old aluminum posts that your
:: :: boat probably has now.
