A bit late now, but..... the Santana keels were, as far as I know, fairly rough affairs. They,re cast iron, and most of them even have a huge void on one side from where it cooled and contracted. They certainly weren’t fair, smooth or even. The pitting on the keel has probably been there since the day it was born. All the boats I know of have since been faired and completely encased with filler and lots of epoxy, so electrolysis shouldn’t be a problem.

But if your keel is exposed, and you keep the boat in the water with the electrics hooked up, zincs sound like a pretty sensible idea!
